High School Planning Tool

Planning your High School experience can be overwhelming. Whether you are simply planning out graduation requirements, trying to plan ahead to fit in other opportunities such as Pierce County Skill Center or Running Start, or wondering which classes align with your career goals, Mrs. Wardle has built a tool to help.

What is Mrs. Wardle's High School Planning Tool?

An interactive Planning Tool split into two sections

Career Clusters, Course Recommendations, Future Goals Section

Explore Career Clusters and Subclusters, get personalized course recommendations, set future goals

Course Planning Section

Select core requirements,  (i.e. math, science, ela), Other requirements (i.e. art, world language), elective choices, and see the course selections combined automatically for you for a tidy list of courses to take each year

The Tool is embedded in the Credit Status Card and the Tool takes into account requirements already met/passed

How many versions are there?

There are four versionsThe  Career Cluster, Course Recommendations, and Future Goals Section is identical in all versions.  The Course Planning Section is different in each version.

Four Year Course Planning- space to plan out 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades

Three Year Course Planning- space to plan out 10th, 11th, & 12th grades

Two Year Course Planning- space to plan out 11th & 12th grades

One Year Course Planning- space to plan out 12th grades

Why are different versions important?

A new version is available every school year (i.e. Four YR Plan in 9th grade. , Three Yr Plan in 10th grade, Two Yr Plan in 11th grade, and One Yr Plan in 12th grade). This allows students to refer back to previous version instead of deleting previous information. The Tool assumes that career goals are ever-evolving, and different versions allow for planning without erasing older versions.

Having one tool for all grades is confusing for students. Students mistakenly try to plan out grades already past. For example, an 11th grader can no longer plan 9th grade as it has already passed. The Two Yr Plan only has space for an 11th grader to plan the current year  (11th) and next year (12th).

How do I access the Tool?

The tool is embedded in the Credit Status Card.

There are tabs on the bottom of the Credit Status Card. Mrs. Wardle manually hides/shows the correct version for each student. At the beginning of the year, there will only be one version visible for planning the current school year. During registration the version for the next year planning will also be visible.

Notes:

Sample Credit Status Card is from Trimester 3 of 10th.

The HS 3 Yr Plan for 10th grade is visible as well as the HS 2 Yr Plan for 11th grade registration.
